As we have rapidly evolved and grown, we have continued to raise the bar internally. Formal validation was a natural next step. It reflects the same rigour and transparency we bring to client work every day.
We are delighted to share that 51toCarbonZero’s near-term climate target has been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative.
The Science Based Targets initiative, or SBTi, helps organisations set emissions reduction targets that are aligned with climate science. For businesses, SBTi validation is an important way to show that climate commitments are credible, measurable and backed by a recognised framework.
It also matters because this is not a symbolic exercise. Formal validation requires targets to be assessed against recognised criteria, which is why SBTi approval is widely seen as a meaningful marker of seriousness and accountability.

According to the SBTi company listing shown in our validation record, 51toCarbonZero is recorded with a near-term status of Targets Set, an organisation type of SME, a 1.5°C temperature alignment based on scope 1 and 2 targets, a 2024 base year and a 2034 target year.
For us, this milestone is about more than validation alone. It is about formalising our own commitment in a way that is transparent, robust and aligned with the standards we believe matter.
It is also why this is such an important moment for our business. In a market where many organisations talk about climate ambition, independently validated targets remain a higher bar. They show that a company is willing to put its commitments through external scrutiny and be measured against a recognised standard.
To maintain zero scope 1 & 2 emissions we will continue to manage our offices to ensure 100% renewable electricity is used and the buildings we select do not use any fossil fuel baked heating or cooling systems. For Scope 3 we are engaging with suppliers to check on their own emissions and reduction statuses, and carefully building our tech stack to align with best practice for energy efficiency and server usage.
We work with organisations that are under increasing pressure to move beyond ambition and demonstrate real progress. Whether that pressure comes from regulation, supply chains, clients, investors or internal leadership teams, the challenge is often the same. Turning climate goals into something practical, measurable and credible.
